uPVC Doors

UPVC doors (also referred to as PVC-u doors) are a popular alternative to traditional front doors. They are sturdy and stylish. The 'u' in uPVC stands for 'unplasticised', a rigid form of PVC that lasts so long it gives the product a lifetime service life. uPVC doors are able to withstand high surface temperatures of up to 82oC without defects. This means that long term sunny conditions do not cause the profile structure to break or deteriorate in quality, throughout the life time of your doors. uPVC doors have multi-point locking mechanisms that are integrated inside the profiles systems. Lockable handles are available on both the windows as well as the doors. The material that uPVC doors are made from, is non-combustible, due to its high chlorine concentration, and the use of appropriate compounds. The profile colour will not turn yellow or fade after a few years of use.Frequent cleaning of the doors is possible without any repainting throughout the useful life of the frame, so the maintenance cost is low compared to wood.

Polymer, the material that uPVC Windows Profile Systems are made from, is non-combustible, due to its high chlorine concentration, and the use of appropriate compounds.

UPVC is also a hardwearing material, regardless of the elements, and is normally waterproof which will prevent damp and maintain insulation regardless of the conditions outside. Whereas many other doors will absorb rain water, UPVC simply repels the elements to keep buildings warm and to keep the cold weather conditions outside. Additionally this means that a UPVC door is likely to have a long life expectancy, leaving you with a less frequent need to replace your exterior door.

One of the main advantages of UPVC doors as compared to traditional counterparts is the fact that they pose greater insulation benefits as a result of their construction. UPVC doors are often hollow, and can be filled with specific insulative materials designed to keep the heat in and the cold out. many traditional doors are less insulated than UPVC models and tend to be constructed of solid wood, which is less energy efficient. In terms of your heating bill and the warmth of your home, you will notice a tangible difference with a UPVC door as compared to a traditional wooden frontage.
